Siemens and Enexis have announced a major program to accelerate the expansion of the Dutch electricity grid.
The project is based on standardized, pre-assembled distribution substations using Siemens NXPLUS C 24 blue GIS medium-voltage switchgear.
These modular substations are fully assembled and tested before delivery and can be installed in prefab stations within a very short time.
The standardized approach is expected to increase deployment capacity from around 10 substations per year to approximately 100.
Enexis plans to install up to 800 new distribution substations over the next eight years.
NXPLUS C 24 uses F-gas-free Clean Air insulation and combines compact design, maintenance-free operation, digital control and integrated sensors.
The project shows how standardized MV switchgear solutions can help utilities expand grid capacity faster while supporting the energy transition.
