Siemens has launched a new portfolio of DC protection and switching solutions for industrial and infrastructure applications.
The new technologies can be integrated with SIVACON S8 low-voltage switchboards and are designed for applications such as data centers, production facilities, battery storage systems and renewable energy projects.
One of the key developments is the SENTRON 3QD2 semiconductor circuit breaker, which provides extremely fast short-circuit interruption and combines protection, switching and monitoring functions in one device.
The new DC solutions are aimed at improving system efficiency, reducing conversion losses and supporting more compact and future-ready power distribution systems.
According to Siemens, DC systems can also reduce the amount of copper required for cabling and busbars in certain applications.
The development reflects the growing role of DC power distribution in modern industrial facilities, renewable energy systems and high-performance data centers.
